Since moving to Navan, Co Meath in 2014, Manu Koshy, his wife Linu and their three sons have loved seeing the town and community around them grow.
With amenities aplenty and multiple transport links to Dublin city, it’s easy to understand why Navan has become a popular spot for buyers outside the capital.
“We can go anywhere from Navan,” says Manu. “Even if you want to go to Blanchardstown, it’s only 32 minutes away. It’s like a hub.” For city commuters, two junctions onto the M3 both north and south of the town mean the trip to Dublin city can take 45 minutes by car or an hour via the Navan Express bus.
For families, there are a number of primary and secondary schools in and around the town centre, as well as sports clubs such as Navan O’Mahony’s GAA, Simonstown Gaels Gaa, Navan Rugby Club and much more.
The River Boyne and River Blackwater both run by the town, and provide peaceful locations to go on a walk or be close to nature. Blackwater Park, which measures an impressive 68 acres, is less than a five-minute drive from the town centre and offers the perfect spot to spend weekend mornings as a family.
As for the town centre itself, Navan Shopping Centre is home to a Tesco, Penneys, Dealz, Dunnes Stores and Argos, while there are a number of smaller bars, restaurants and cafes dotted throughout the town.
Family-run business Jack Kiernan and Sons has been in the town since 1968. “There’s a good community spirit in Navan,” says owner Jack Kiernan. “The next generation has come back to us now. People who came in as kids in the ’70s and ’80s are now coming in as parents and bringing their children in. We’re delighted to see that.”
