Now Samsung is working on its own Oculus Rift-style VR headset

On top of that, the company is also working on a smartwatch that can work without being tehered to a smartphone and wearable smartglasses designed to compete against Google’s own version.

SAMSUNG’S AIM TO be at the forefront of new trends seems to be underway as plans that it’s working on a VR headset have been revealed.

Designed to take on the likes of Oculus Rift and Sony’s Project Morpheus, working models of the headset are said to be powered by existing flagship Samsung devices like the Note 3 and Galaxy S5.

When it’s released, the consumer version will require next-gen unannounced Galaxy phones and tablets to run it, according to Engadget.

The new device is likely to feature an OLED screen, comparable to the Oculus Rift’s second developer’s kit, and will likely use a wired connection to connect to Samsung devices.

Alongside that, the company is also working on a smartwatch which will function without having to connect to a smartphone.

The watch will come with a SIM card allowing users to make and take calls directly from it, as well as take photos and send email. It will also feature GPS, Bluetooth and a heart monitor.

While the company has a range of smartwatches such as the Galaxy Gear series, they must be connected to a smartphone to function. This smartwatch will be able to work independently.

And last but not least, Samsung is said to be developing its own rival to Google Glass. Dubbed the ‘Galaxy Glass,’ it’s expected that the device will be revealed at the IFA trade show in Berlin in September.
