Seán Hackett granted bail to attend father's funeral with Mickey Harte

The 18-year-old was charged with murder at an Omagh court earlier today.

SEÁN HACKETT HAS been granted permission to attend his father’s funeral tomorrow under strict conditions.

He is to be accompanied by two chaperones – his solicitor and Tyrone football manager Mickey Harte – and is not allowed to communicate with his family, according to BBC News.

The 18-year-old GAA star was charged with the murder of his 60-year-old father, Aloysius Hackett, at Omagh Magistrates’ Court earlier today.

The court heard that the son admitted to police that he shot the victim at their family home near Augher on Friday, 4 January.

The Hackett family, including mother Eilish and daughter Aileen, attended today’s hearing. It is understood they wanted compassionate bail to be granted so the accused could attend the mass and burial.

The Ulster Herald reports that Mickey Harte agreed to accompany Seán Hackett and to ensure he makes no contact with any potential witnesses.
