Poll: How will you vote in the Seanad referendum?

Do you want the Seanad saved or abolished?

THE GOVERNMENT HAS just announced plans for a referendum on whether the Seanad kept or abolished.

Minister Simon Coveney argued this morning that a country the size of Ireland does not need two chambers and that its abolition would move the country toward an “international norm”.

However, opponents of the proposal believe the upper house is necessary to provide checks and balances on those in power.

What side of the debate are you on? How will you vote in the Seanad referendum?

Poll Results:

No, it should be kept (3848)
Yes, it should be abolished (2080)
