Navy divers retrieve body from the water in Clare

The search for a missing fisherman who was washed into the sea resumed this morning.

NAVY DIVERS have successfully retrieved a body from the water today after their search for a missing fisherman who was washed into the sea in County Clare resumed today.

Yesterday the search was called off by Doolin Coast Guard due to adverse weather conditions.

An incident area was set up this morning where the coast guard evaluated the weather to determine if it was safe to resume the search.

A spokesperson for the Irish Coast Guard said that members of the rescue team set up an incident area at 8.30am this morning and the search resumed at 10am.

At approximately 11.55am today, rescue teams retrieved a body from the water.

The body is yet to be formally identified.

A 42-years-old Latvian man who was fishing on the rocks with some friends near Fanore when he was washed into the sea by a wave.

It is understood that his friend jumped in after him to try and help him, but he was later retrieved from the water.
