Sectarian violence flares up in East Belfast

A LARGE GROUP of up to 100 masked men have attacked homes in the Short Strand area of East Belfast this evening. Petrol bombs and pipe bombs have been thrown at some houses, and police are at the scene attempting to restore peace. UTV reports that both loyalists and republican gangs are involved in the conflict, which comes within 24 hours of sectarian violence between youths elsewhere in East Belfast.
