Question time
What do you deem the most important issue for the European Union now and what would you like to see happen in that area?
I see migration as one of the most important issues facing the EU right now but we need to ensure our approach is based on solidarity and full implementation of the EU Migration and Asylum Pact. The Pact ensures that we will share responsibility for controlling external borders, therefore taking back control and ensuring it is no longer traffickers who decide who has access to European territory but Member States themselves.
What group will you be aligned with in the European Parliament, should you win a seat? What do you see as their priorities?
I am a Fine Gael candidate for 7 June and we are affiliated with the European People’s Party (EPP) whose priority it is to make agriculture and fisheries pay for those who work in those industries, for full implementation of the EU Migration and Asylum Pact and for real competition across borders for consumers.
Why should someone vote for you?
I will be a strong voice in Europe, I have a history of delivery in business and civic society and I will deliver for the citizens of Ireland South. I am committed to Europe and I will stand for firm but fair migration policies, a stronger safer European Union, rural Ireland and a just transition for farmers.
