Biography

Diarmaid Ó’Conaráin is the author of 'Why You're Wrong: Equality, Diversity and Much More' and member of the Irish Freedom Party.

Question time
What do you deem the most important issue for the European Union now and what would you like to see happen in that area?

I believe immigration is the biggest issue right now, as it ripples into multiple other issues affected by supply and demand. Alot of Europe is experiencing a housing crisis right now. Ireland is enduring a long running healthcare crisis in terms of a lack of hospital beds and extensive waiting times. In recent times people in Ireland are finding it difficult to secure a timely appointment with their local GP or a place in a classroom for their child. All of these issues have one thing in common, an imbalance in supply and demand. Given supply can only be increased by the measure of the human resources available, it is clear the excessive demand must be addressed if any of these issues are to secure a positive resolution anytime soon.

What group will you be aligned with in the European Parliament, should you win a seat? What do you see as their priorities?

European Conservatives and Reformists.

Why should someone vote for you?

I will represent a much needed change in Irish politics, particularly at an EU level, where our representatives have been overly meek and compliant towards the European Unions further encroachments into Irish law and regulations. I will push back against the EU Migration Pact, Carbon Taxes and further militarisation or involvement in foreign conflicts. I will seek harder external borders for the union and citizenship requirements that mean the EU's Freedom of Movement is not so easily abused by fastracked citizenships.
