Question time
What do you deem the most important issue for the European Union now and what would you like to see happen in that area?

The European Union is currently grappling with significant crises: the mental health crisis and the challenges of immigration and demographic change. These complex issues, intensified by recent global events, require a balanced and multifaceted response.

As an MEP, I will champion comprehensive mental health initiatives, including increased funding, expanded educational programs, and full integration of mental health services into the EU's public health framework.

Simultaneously, I advocate for a smart immigration policy that aligns realistically with our capacities and actually involves local communities in decision-making processes. We must tackle Europe's falling birth rates through incentives for families, rather than relying solely on immigration to solve demographic challenges. The recent EU Migration Pact is seriously flawed, and must be reassessed with a matter of urgency.

My policy focus will ensure that reforms in both mental health and immigration reflect Dublin’s values and contribute positively to our community's well-being and the overall stability of the European Union.

What group will you be aligned with in the European Parliament, should you win a seat? What do you see as their priorities?

I will remain independent. This independence will enable me to serve Dublin's best interests without the constraints of party lines and voting - which is a significant problem with Dublin’s current MEPs, who have consistently voted with their party and group.

My priority will be to effectively represent Dublin's unique needs in the European Parliament, advocating for policies that directly benefit our constituents on issues like housing, cost of living, and smart, controlled immigration, always putting the best interests of Dubliners at heart. Should there emerge a group whose agenda aligns closely with our priorities and the mandate of Dublin’s citizens, I would at least hear them out. However, this would be made transparently and inclusively, ensuring it reflects the collective will of the people.

Why should someone vote for you?

Vote for me if you value a representative who prioritises transparency, accountability, and the well-being of Dublin's citizens above all. My commitment is to bring your voice into the European Parliament, tackling the pressing issues of affordable housing, fair wages, and robust mental health support. I advocate for a smart, controlled immigration policy that aligns with our community’s capacity and values.

Having personally faced profound challenges like suicide and addiction within my own family, I deeply understand the impacts of mental health issues. This personal experience, combined with my pragmatic views on immigration, has fuelled my dedication to transforming our approach to mental health and ensuring that our immigration policies strengthen rather than strain our community. Moreover, as a scientist with over a decade of experience rather than a career politician, I bring a perspective grounded in practical knowledge and an understanding of the real-world challenges people face.
