Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?
Over the past four and a half years, I have dedicated myself to serving this constituency, and delivered significant progress in health (in particular Bantry Hospital) and education, with over 50 new school extensions. I want to keep delivering for the people of West Cork and continue to be their strong voice in the Dáil.
What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?
The cost of living crisis. If elected, I will push for targeted supports to raise the higher income tax threshold to €50,000, cut the lower USC rate to 1.5%, increase the state pension, and reduce childcare fees to €200 monthly. We must also invest in affordable renewables and lower energy costs.
What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?
Housing and infrastructure will be my first priorities. I will work to make homeownership more accessible, support local planning, and encourage the reuse of vacant properties. Cork South West needs fair road funding and investment in key routes like the N71. Additional Uisce Éireann funding must prioritise legacy wastewater treatment facilities across the region.
