Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?
I decided to run for TD because, like so many others, I'm a defective block homeowner, and I know firsthand the frustration of dealing with a system that has not done enough to help. Too many families across Donegal are stuck in homes that aren't safe and it's clear by now, that the government hasn't taken our issues seriously. We need real practical solutions - not just promises. I believe I can bring that voice to the Dail, to push for the fair treatment and support that homeowners deserve, and to finally get action on this issue that affects so many.
What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?
The greatest issue facing our country right now is the housing crisis, plain and simple. It's affecting everything - families struggling to afford rent, young people unable to buy their first home and homeowners like myself dealing with defective builds that should never have passed inspection. This crisis isn't just about numbers, it's about; dignity, security and the basic right to live in a safe home. Our housing policies need a complete overhaul to prioritise people over profits, to ensure quality and accountability in construction and to make housing accessible and affordable to all. That's a change I want to fight for.
What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?
The first time I speak to the Dail, I'll be addressing the housing crisis head-on, particularly the scandal of defective homes that has impacted thousands of families, including my own. I'll speak about the sleepless nights, the financial strain and the sense of betrayal so many home owners feel. I'll demand accountability from developers, insurers and regulators who've allowed these failures to happen. But I won't stop there - I'll push for a National Plan to fix this, so no family is left in an unsafe home or burdened by costs they shouldn't have to bear. This crisis is urgent and it deserves nothing less than immediate, concrete action.
