Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?
I never set out to be a politician. My passion has always been in media production. It’s surprising, in some ways, that I’ve ended up in this position, especially since I’m naturally quite shy. However, given my long history of highlighting important issues, I suppose it was inevitable. For over 14 years, I’ve combined activism with citizen journalism, raising awareness about key concerns. As the local elections approached, people began encouraging me to run, but the idea was initially daunting. I was hoping someone else would step up, but when no one did, I realised it was time to step out of my comfort zone and take action.
What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?
By far, the most pressing issue on voters' minds is our uncontrolled immigration policy. Many people are struggling to make ends meet, and when they see the amount of money being spent on migrants—particularly economic migrants—they feel disheartened and resentful. Our immigration policy has wide-ranging effects, especially on housing, public services, and social supports. We need to prioritise the well-being of those whose families’ have lived on this island for generations before looking to help those from other countries.
What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?
If elected, my first speech in the Dáil would focus on one of the most pressing issues affecting the Irish people today: the integrity of our media. There are countless critical issues that need urgent attention, and I firmly believe that if we had a media landscape that was truly honest and independent, we could effectively address many of these challenges. Unfortunately, our media has become increasingly captured, serving interests that do not align with the well-being of the public.
