Biography

Born in Swords and father of three children, Donnelly works as a Storeman in Fingal County Council. His priorities are affordable housing, public transport and infrastructure.

Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?

I want to upsize from a 2-bed to a 3-bed but even with a maximum mortgage of €150k, it may not be doable due to bidding wars by desperate house-hunters and all the gazumping that's going on. House prices (and Rents) are out of control in this constituency and ordinary hard-working people are being exploited. I don't want this for my kids when they grow up, so I'm taking a stand.

What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?

Sustainable, Affordable Housing: meaning public transport solutions such as Metro North, increased hospitals, schools and staffing capacities to meet population growth, sufficient recreational facilities and robust electricity and water/sanitation infrastructure should be greenlit, fast-tracked and future-proofed to cope with housing delivery needs.

What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?

That in order to know the pain of the people, elected representatives must be paid the same as the people and that I have a mandate from the people to pursue substantial reforms to the Salaries & Allowances of the aforementioned. That concrete measures, such as those contained in my manifesto, need to be taken immediately to reduce House Prices & Rents. I will also state that the time for begging for the Referendum on Water is over and that it must happen immediately with wording that enshrines the provision of water free of charge in the Irish Constitution should it be passed by the people.
