Viable ‘pipe bomb-type device’ discovered in Larne

Traffic through the Co Antrim town was halted this morning after the suspicious device was found earlier this morning.

A SECURITY ALERT in Larne has ended, after local police declared a suspicious object discovered in the Co Antrim down was removed.

The viable pipe bomb-type device was discovered in the Hope Street area of the coastal town earlier this morning.

Traffic between that street and the Circular Road was diverted while an army technical team was deployed.

The device has been removed and the area has now been re-opened.
