Security alert ongoing at Letterkenny garda station

A suspicious object is being examined by the Defence Forces.

LETTERKENNY GARDA STATION has been closed to the public today following the discovery of a suspicious object.

Explosives experts from the Defence Forces have been deployed to examine the device.

The New Line Road has also been closed.

Inspector Goretti Sheridan told Highland Radio that a member of the force found the item as he arrived for work this morning. It is understood to have been designed to at least give the appearance of an explosive device.
