Septic tank registrations so far: how does your county rate?

Kerry county has the highest registration rate – but Dublin city residents have a lot of ground to make up.

Updated, 19:19

OVER A THIRD of Irish homes have yet to register for mandatory inspection of septic tanks, the latest figures show.

The figures below show the number of households that have registered so far – with three days to go until the end of a six-month window which requires households to register for mandatory inspections of their tanks.

The mandatory inspections are the result of an EU directive on waste water management, which Ireland was behind schedule in implementing.

Last month the European Court of Justice fined Ireland €2 million for its delay in implementing the fine.
