Seven arrested over motor insurance injury claims fraud

One man has since been released but the remaining four women and two men are being held at garda stations in the Midlands and Cork.

GARDAÍ IN ANGLESEA Street,  Cork arrested seven people, four women and three men, this morning as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected organised fraudulent motor insurance injury claims.

One man has since been released without charge but the remaining six are still being questioned.

They are detained at various stations in the Midlands and Cork under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

The arrests form part of the second stage of this investigation named Operation Nascar.

Five people were arrested in Munster on the 6 February 2013. They were released without charge, pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
