Seven new arrests over murder of Stephen Byrne

Five men and two women are arrested in north inner Dublin this morning, over last July’s gangland murder.

SEVEN PEOPLE HAVE been arrested this morning over the gangland murder of Stephen Byrne on Sheriff Street in Dublin last year.

The seven arrested – five men and two women – are being held at stations across the city. All but one, a male teenager, are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.

The teenager is being detained under Section 50 of the same Act.

The arrests bring to 13 the total number of people arrested in connection with the murder.

Byrne, 32, of Mariners Port off Sheriff Street, was shot dead in broad daylight on July 13 last year.
