Garda investigation in Waterford after eight migrants discovered on cargo ship

The eight people are all reported to be male.

EIGHT MEN HAVE been discovered hiding on a cargo vessel travelling from France to Ireland.

Gardaí say the men were discovered hiding on a bulk cargo ship which docked at Belview Port near the mouth of the River Suir, just downriver from Waterford city.

The ages and nationalities of the individuals are not yet known but they are all believed to be adult males from Eastern Europe.

Gardaí said they are all in a good medical condition and they are investigating all the circumstances of this incident.

Garda Immigration Officers attached to Waterford Garda Station are currently dealing with the males and they will be processed under Irish immigration law.
