High school student gives graduation speech, turns it into Shake It Off flashmob

Haters gonna hate, hate, hate.

Colin Yost / YouTube

WHEN NEW HAMPSHIRE high school valedictorian Colin Yost was tasked with giving a speech at his graduation, he knew exactly what he wanted to impart upon his classmates.

His speech was largely about embracing your inner nerd, but the take away was this: shake it off.

At the end of the speech, he broke into a dance to Taylor Swift’s hit Shake It Off.

Which was a little awkward at first, until his whole year joined in.

He told MTV News that he wanted to do the flashmob because his year is “very cohesive” and doesn’t have many cliques.

“As we practiced, the energy was just building and everyone was feeling how great it was to work together and send this positive message.”

Lovely.
