GARDAÍ IN WESTMEATH are investigating after a man was shot in Athlone last night.
The incident occurred last night at about 9.40pm on Retreat Road.
A man aged in his late 20s received a gunshot wound to his lower leg.
The man was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, Co Offaly with minor injuries and has since been released.
A juvenile male has been arrested in relation to the incident and is currently being detained at Athlone Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act (1939).

@Dave Sherman:It doesn’t say in the article but very unlikely to be admitted to hospital if you were shot in the leg with a spud gun.
