'Tragic accident': Man shot dead at clay pigeon event in Downpatrick

He was aged in his 60s.

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at a clay pigeon shooting club event near Downpatrick this afternoon.

A man in his 60s died after a firearm was discharged.

The PSNI said the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated, but it looks as though it was an accident.

Detective Inspector Will Tate said: “We will be conducting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding this death, but initial enquiries would indicate this to be a tragic accident.”
