Inner city shooting: Gardaí want to talk to taxi driver who took woman to hospital

Gardaí investigating the scene have recovered a number of bullet casings.

GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN have appealed for a taxi driver who took a woman to hospital after a shooting incident on Monday to get in contact with them.

It’s understood the woman was not directly injured by the gunfire at flats on Boyne Street in the south Inner City.

She was taken to hospital however – and gardaí want the driver of what’s described as a silver Kia car to call them at Pearse Street Station.

The woman has already been questioned as part of the investigation. She was held for a time at Pearse Street but later released without charge.

The incident happened at around 1pm on Monday.

A number of shots were fired, and gardaí carrying out forensic tests later recovered bullet casings from the scene.

According to a statement:

“Those involved had left the scene on of arrival of Gardaí.

“There were no reported injuries and no arrests made at the time of the incident.”

The taxi driver brought the woman from the Pearse Street area at around 1pm on Monday and brought her to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin 4, where they arrived around half an hour later.

Today’s appeal concludes:

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on 01 6669000, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
