23-year-old held over fatal shooting of man in Dundalk

A 23-year-old man was arrested in Dublin this morning, and has been taken to Drogheda for questioning.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the murder of Seamus McMahon in Dundalk in 2010 have made an arrest.

The father-of-one was shot at a house in Saltown, Dundalk in March of that year – and later died from his injuries.

A number of arrests have been made in connection with the case in the five years since his murder.

Gardaí confirmed a 23-year-old man was arrested in Dublin this morning.

He’s been taken to Drogheda Garda Station for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Two men entered the house and shot the 41-year-old at around 7pm on 21 March 2010.

He was taken to Our lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with a suspected gunshot wound to the side, but later died.
