Man shot dead in front garden of west Dublin home named locally

A MAN WHO was shot dead in west Dublin today has been named locally as David Lynch.

Gardaí were called to reports of multiple shots being fired in the Foxdene area at 2:15pm this afternoon.

Lynch (42) was shot dead in the front garden of a house and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Shortly after the incident a Peugeot Partner type van was found on fire at Buirg an Rí Glen in Clondalkin. A firearm was recovered in the vicinity of the van.

At 2.30pm a silver Toyota Corolla was then found on fire at The Paddocks Rise, Lucan, Co Dublin .

The fire service was called to the vehicle beside the Lucan Community National School. The vehicle is believed to be connected to the incident and is now being examined.

The scene of the shooting remains preserved and is the subject of an examination by garda crime scene investigators. 

Gardaí in Lucan are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the incident room at Lucan Garda Station on 01-666 7300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
