Two arrested after shots fired at armed gardaí

No one was injured in the incident.

TWO MEN IN their early twenties have been arrested after armed gardaí were shot at early this morning in Co Kildare.

The incident took place at Clonmoyle, Rathangan when gardaí attempted to stop a car.

Shots were fired, and the car sped off, leading to a brief pursuit. The two men were arrested a short distance and a firearm recovered.

Gardaí did not return fire.

Both men have been detained at Leixlip Garda Station and can be held for up to 72 hours.

The scene has been sealed off and diversions are in place.
