Two charged by armed gardaí after shots fired in Meath

A pistol and ammunition was found in searches yesterday.

TWO MEN HAVE been charged after reports of a number of shots being fired in Co Meath on Friday.

Gardaí investigating reports of the gunshots searched a house at Readstown, Summerhill yesterday.

They were assisted by the the Regional Support Unit and discovered a pistol and ammunition at the house.

Two men, aged 19 and 31, were arrested in connection with the incident and have since been charged.

The 31-year-old is expected to appear before Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin tomorrow while the teenager will appear at a later date.

An investigation into the incident is continuing.
