Six charged with terrorist offences in Britain

Some of the men are accused of planning a bombing campaign in the UK and of stating their intention to act as suicide bombers.

SIX MEN from Birmingham have been charged with terrorism offences, according to Britain’s West Midlands Police.

The men, aged between 25 and 32, were arrested a week ago in what police say was an intelligence-led operation.

Four were charged yesterday evening with preparing for an act of terrorism and two with failing to disclose information. One man faces the additional charge of fundraising for terrorism.

Two of those charged are believed to have travelled to Pakistan for training in terrorist activities including bomb making and are accused of planning a bombing campaign in the UK. Both are accused, alongside one of the other men charged, of stating their intention to act as a suicide bomber.

The men are due in court this afternoon.

Police are still interviewing a seventh man, aged 20, who was arrested on Thursday in connection with the operation.
