The State Pathologist will investigate if the skull is recent or historic.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after what is believed to be a human skull was found in a field in Swords.

The discovery was made by workmen at around 4pm yesterday as a JCB was clearing ground near a ditch.

The State Pathologist attended the scene yesterday, but it remains sealed off.

An investigation is underway to determine whether the skull was put there recently or historically.

The skull was found in a field near the Waterside estate off the Swords Road.
