SOME THINGS TAKE longer than others, especially when it comes to typing.
While you have swipe keyboards now helping the process, a lot of the hassle has been removed. But what about those words or phrases that are awkward to type or take longer than usual that aren’t covered by autocorrect?
For that, you can just add them into your personal dictionary for future reference. How you activate it will depend on the OS you’re using but here’s a quick rundown of how to add your own.
iOS: Settings > General > Keyboard > Add New Shortcut.
Android: Settings > Language and Input > Personal Dictionary.
Windows Phone: When you’re typing a new word, the suggestions area will allow you to add any new word into your dictionary while typing. A plus sign will follow the word and touching it will include it the next time you’re typing. This applies to words and not phrases.
While the above example relates to emoticons, there are other uses for it. For one, you can create preset messages that you can rely on when you’re busy, or you can create shortcuts for common words just to make typing that bit faster. Whatever way you use it, typing messages will become that little bit easier.
