One For The Weekend: An expert cocktail you can make at home

Our choice of cocktail this week is the Absolut Smoked Pineapple.

AFTER A LONG week, it’s only natural you want to sit back and relax with your drink of choice in your hand and your favourite TV series on the telly.

But if your favourite tipple is a cocktail, you may think your options are limited without an expert on hand to prepare it for you.

Whisper it lest they hear, but you don’t need the help of an undoubtedly talented bartender in order to enjoy a delicious cocktail.

There are some sophisticated but straightforward cocktails out there that you can prepare for yourself. We have one in mind that we can guarantee won’t leave you disappointed and instead will have you and your friends amazed at your mixing skills.

Our choice of cocktail this week is the Absolut Smoked Pineapple and is a smashed drink. By smashed we mean you’re going to smash a load of ingredients up in a glass to get all of those lovely flavours and add some vodka and smoky whisky to give the drink its unique aromas.

We’ve outlined all the ingredients and steps below, so you know exactly how to make the perfect Absolut Smoked Pineapple for you and your friends.

Ingredients

  • 8 Pieces Lemon
  • 6 Pieces Pineapple
  • 6 Leaves Sage
  • ⅔ Part Simple Syrup
  • 1⅔ Parts Absolut Vodka
  • Crushed Ice
  • 4 Dashes Scotch Whisky
  • 1 Wedge Pineapple
  • 1 Sprig

Steps

  • Cut half a Lemon into 8 pieces. Add the Lemon along with 6 pieces of fresh Pineapple, some Sage and Simple Syrup to a rocks glass.
  • Muddle (smash or squish) everything together in the glass, then add 50ml Absolut Vodka.
  • Fill the glass with crushed ice and give it all a stir.
  • Add 4 dashes of smoky Peated Whisky, then garnish with a sprig of Sage and a Pineapple wedge.
  • Enjoy!

This cocktail gets its smoky profile from peated whisky. As long as it’s smoky, you can use any whisky you prefer, so don’t be afraid to experiment.
