Man appears in court charged with being a member of the IRA

Ryan Glennon made no reply to the charge.

A 24-YEAR-OLD man has appeared before the Special Criminal Court charged with membership of the IRA.

Ryan Glennon with an address at Macken Villas on Macken Street in Dublin made no reply to the charge.
He is charged with membership of an illegal organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army, or otherwise, Óglaigh Na hÉireann on 14 May 2015.
Legal representatives for Glennon say that they intend to make an application for legal aid.
That application will be heard on Friday.

He was arrested as part of an ongoing operation into dissident republican activity in the Dublin area.

Gardaí attached to the Special Detective Unit arrested the man this morning and he was detained at Irishtown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
