Man critical after being stabbed in the stomach in village

Two men have been arrested, and are being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.

TWO MEN IN their 20s has been detained for questioning after a man was stabbed in the abdomen in the small Tyrone village of Augher last night.

The 40-year-old victim “sustained a stab wound to his stomach following an altercation in the street,” police said.

His condition is described as being critical.

“Police have arrested two men aged 23 and 29 on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Castlehill Gardens, Augher just after 11 pm last night,” Detective Inspector David Hallaway said in a statement.

Augher is some 30km to the west of Dungannon and has a population of around 400.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Dungannon PSNI.
