A MAN HAS been charged over the fatal stabbing of a mother of three at her south Dublin home on Tuesday night.
The man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and taken to Dún Laoghaire Garda Station.
He will appear before Dun Laoghaire District Court later this morning.
65-year-old widow Jane Braidwood sustained stab wounds in the attack at Clarinda Park East in Dún Laoghaire at 5pm. She was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
RTÉ is reporting that the woman’s daughter witnessed the attack and ran out on to the street to raise the alarm.
It’s also reported that a neighbour heard the screams but was attacked when he tried to intervene and was also taken to hospital.
A knife believed to have been the weapon used has been recovered.
Gardaí at Dún Laoghaire are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
