4 of a kind: Homes with inviting stained glass windows

Homes with built-in colour and character that you won’t want to switch out.

STAINED GLASS WINDOWS often add a pretty accent to entrances and front doors of any home, casting coloured streams of light into the room and adding interest instantly. They can really set the tone for what awaits inside a property, whether it’s new or old.

This week, we’ve found four houses across the country that have made stained glass a feature to enjoy as soon as you step in the front door. From a restored Victorian in Sandycove to a semi-d in Dublin 9, each has a certain character and an extra bit of colour thanks to stained glass.

Sandycove, Co Dublin – €2,500,000

3 Hastings Terrace is a 240 m² four-bed home full of classic Victorian features that are the backdrop for interior designer Suzie McAdam’s mix of elegant colours, marble finishes and striking wallpaper as well as fabrics. McAdam refurbished this period property in Sandycove, Dublin, that she has called home since 2019. The new layout means the bedrooms reside on the ground floor while the main social spaces are on the first and you’ll spot the pretty stained glass framing the front door.

For anyone looking for a home on the south side of Dublin, Sandycove may need little in the way of introducing. Minutes from the sea, plenty of shops and your pick of schools, without a doubt, 3 Hastings Terrace isn’t just a pretty space – everything needed for everyday living, including the DART, is on its doorstep.
