Star Sunday shuts with loss of 17 jobs

THE Irish Daily Star Sunday newspaper has closed down with the loss of all 17 permanent staff posts.

Employees at the sister paper of the Irish Daily Star were told the bad news at a meeting this morning with management. Two internal sources told TheJournal.ie that the staff were told that the final edition of Star Sunday was the one which was printed last weekend. The paper is believed to have never turned a profit since its launch in 2003.

The Irish Daily Star and Star Sunday moved offices from their longtime home in Terenure, Dublin to new premises in Dundrum just last month.
