He was later charged with murder.

Stephanie’s car was found abandoned in a field on Thursday.

Tributes

People have been paying tribute to Stephanie Scott in a number of ways on social media.

Firstly, through the hashtag #putyourdressout, which sees brides sharing their wedding photos:

They have also been wearing yellow to remember Scott on what would have been her wedding day.

This was inspired by Australian Today Show host Lisa Wilkinson, who said on Instagram:

If you’re getting married tomorrow or simply attending a wedding as a guest, why not wear a touch of yellow in memory of Stephanie. And if you can, spread the word… It’s the very least this beautiful, committed young teacher deserved.
