Stoned to death after taking part in a beauty contest

However, police insist the Ukrainian teenager was killed by a “troubled classmate.”

A TEENAGE Muslim girl has been stoned to death in Ukraine after taking part in a beauty contest, amid suggestions she may have been “punished” for flouting Sharia law.

The Telegraph reports that 19-year-old Katya Koren’s body was found dumped in a forest in the Crimea region one week after she went missing. She had suffered multiple head wounds which appeared to have been inflicted by stones or rocks.

Police said she was killed by a “psychologically troubled classmate”.

However, this was disputed by local newspaper reports which suggested that she had been killed by hardline Muslims as punishment for taking part in a beauty contest.

Three teenagers have been questioned in connection with the killing, the Daily Mail adds. One of the three is reported to have said she was killed because she “violated the laws of Sharia”.
