Sudanese minister killed in mountain plane crash

Sudan’s Minister of Guidance and Religious Endowments was on a civilian aircraft when it crashed.

SUDANESE TELEVISION broadcasters are reporting that a member of the country’s government has been killed in a plane crash.

The civilian aircraft, which was carrying 31 people, crashed on its second attempt to land during heavy weather in the Nuba mountains in the south of the country.

BBC News quoted local TV reports as saying the aircraft was carrying the Minister of Guidance and Religious Endowments, Ghazi al-Sadiq, as well as other military and political representatives.

The plane was on it way from the capital, Khartoum, to a regional celebration of Eid al-Fitr – the feast which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
