3. #BEAU BIDEN There were emotional scenes yesterday as the US vice president’s son was laid to rest. The 46-year-old succumbed to brain cancer 8 days ago.

4. #BARCELONA The Spanish side are the new champions of Europe after defeating a stubborn Juventus side 3-1 in the UEFA Champions League final last night in Berlin.

5. #RIVER FOYLE 26 people have been rescued on the “freezing” river between Donegal and Tyrone after their kayaks capsized.

6. #BLADE RUNNING Gardaí are investigating after a paralympic athlete’s prosthetic leg blade was stolen from a car in Monaghan. The blade is a custom fit and therefore “is of no use to any other person” gardaí say.

7. #BREATHALYSERS Of the 181 fatal road collisions in Ireland last year some 133 of the surviving drivers involved were not breathalysed, according to Garda figures.

8. #LÉ EITHNE The Irish navy has been praised by the International Organisation for Migration after their ship brought its total of migrants rescued from the waters of the Mediterranean to more than 1,100.

9. #SYMPHIOSOTOMY Independent TD Clare Daly has questioned whether or not the human rights of symphiosotomy survivors have been protected by the government.
