Why do Americans go mad for Super Bowl ads?

Bob Dylan, a horse-and-puppy friendship and a doberhuahua – last night’s commercials were probably better than the football.

THESE FIVE EXAMPLES, picked by Business Insider as the best of last night’s offerings, might give some insight into why Americans can’t get enough of the ads played during the Super Bowl commercial breaks.

The big brands often don’t worry about highlighting what their product is, what it does or why you need it in your life. Instead, they want to make entertaining ads that people will be talking about the day after the major NFL event.

As entertainment was, eh, lacking in the actual football, the ad teams really had to bring it. (Especially as companies forked out an average of $4 million per 30-second slot).

What do you think? Do you agree with this Top Five?

3. T-Mobile: Tim Tebow

Before watching this one, non-NFL fans should note that Tim Tebow (the main character here) is a former quarterback. He was dropped by the New England Patriots earlier this season, making him a free agent with no contract.

2. Budweiser: ‘Puppy Love’

Horses and puppies? You can’t lose.

1. Coca-Cola: ‘America the Beautiful’

After a bad year in 2013 (remember how Pepsi upstaged it), Coca-Cola came back with a beautiful bang.
