Swimmer recovered from the sea off Lahinch in a critical condition

The woman got into difficulty while swimming off Lahinch Beach. She’s been airlifted to University Hospital Galway.

A FEMALE SWIMMER is being treated in hospital in Galway after being pulled from the sea off Lahinch.

The woman was recovered by the crew of the LE Aisling after she got into difficulty off Lahinch Beach in Co. Clare. An inflatable boat was launched from the LE Aisling at around 3pm and the swimmer was taken aboard ten minutes later.

She was brought to Liscannor Pier and treated by a resuscitation team. She was then airlifted to University Hospital Galway by the Coast Guard Helicopter.

RTÉ reports that the women, who is in her thirties, is believed to be in a critical condition.
