1. #FF HEAVE: Brian Lenihan has said he will be supporting Brian Cowen in today’s motion of confidence in the Fianna Fáil leader. The Fianna Fáil parliamentary party is due to meet at 5.30pm this evening to discuss of other business before voting on Cowen’s position.

2. #GE11: Meanwhile, other general election candidates are eyeing up the fight ahead. Possible candidates include economist David McWilliams for Dun Laoghaire and the ‘Toxic Anglo’ protester Joe McNamara. McNamara has declared his intention to run as an Independent in Galway, against Fianna Fáil TD Frank Fahy.

3. #BRRR: Transport Minister Noel Dempsey said today that he believes local authorities in Ireland did better than any other authorities in Europe in coping with the recent heavy snow and extreme weather.

4. #TUNISIA: Political and civil unrest continue in Tunisia today, with four newly-elected ministers resigning. The ‘Jasmine Revolution’ showing no signs of abating as the drive for change appears to be spreading, with protests breaking out on the streets in Egypt and Yemen.

5. #MICHAELA: A fourth person, a male security officer at the Legends Hotel, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Michaela McAreavey in Mauritius, the Guardian reports.
