EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you really should know before heading out the door…

1. #RACE FOR THE ÁRAS: Mary Davis has acknowledged that her presidential campaign has been damaged by her perceived reputation as a former member of a number of State boards. The seven presidential candidates started their morning out west, taking part in TG4′s presidential debate which airs tonight. We’ll have our usual liveblog from 6:45pm.

2. #COURTS: The High Court has denied Liam Adams leave to appeal his extradition to the Supreme Court – paving the way for him to be extradited to Northern Ireland. The brother of Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams is wanted on charges of sexual abuse against his daughter.

3. #SHALIT: Crowds have greeted the return of the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, after he returned to his native country following five years in captivity. Shalit has been released in exchange for the return of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, in a deal which has raised hopes of a revived Middle Eastern peace process.

4. #RAG WEEK: Students in NUI Galway have voted to scrap their college’s controversial Rag Week, in exchange for support for a one-day festival. Students on the SU council voted by 107 votes to 7 to agree a deal with the university, which will also see an extra €60,000 donated to the Student Assistance Fund.

5. #MONOPOLY: Consumerism reigns supreme, as Crumlin and Kimmage have been given the chop… from the latest edition of the Irish Monopoly board. Hasbro have launched a rejigged Dublin-centric version of the board, which also includes some of Ireland’s largest theatres and shopping centres for the first time.

Edit – a late update to stick in: Enda Kenny has confirmed Tuesday, December 6, as Budget Day.
