1. #BUDGET 2011: Minister Mary Harney has warned that the health budget could be cut by up to €1bn in the Budget. Harney said the minimum cut was likely to be around €600m.

2. #WATERCOOLER TALK: Twitter users have been responding to Alex Ferguson’s press conference today regarding Wayne Rooney’s future at Man U. Ferguson said Rooney told him that he intends to leave the club.

3. #KANGAROO CRUELTY: Gardaí and the DSPCA are investigating claims that a kangaroo died after being released into a 30th birthday party in the Clarion Hotel, Liffey Valley, Dublin, over the weekend. The animal was allegedly presented as a birthday present and was reportedly terrified after being let loose at the event.

4. #PROPERTY: Buyers have been snatching up the apartments developed by Michael Fingleton as head of Irish Nationwide since they went on sale last week. Just 11 apartments, a mix of one- and two-bed homes, of the 62-unit development remain on the market.

5. #COURTS: The Commercial Court has granted an injunction sought by Anglo Irish Bank against Lorraine Drumm, the wife of former Anglo CEO David Drumm. The injunction prevents her from transferring property held in her name in Dublin into joint ownership with her husband.
