Taliban attack Nato base in Afghanistan

It is the second time in six months that Afghan and international forces in the area have been targeted.

TALIBAN INSURGENTS HAVE attacked Afghan and international forces at the airport of the eastern city of Jalalabad.

The Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) said this morning’s attack lasted for two hours. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack, which left eight insurgents dead. The BBC reports that one militant had been wearing a suicide belt.

No Afghan National Army or International Security Assistance Forces servicemembers were killed in the attack.

Afterwards, two policemen and six civilians were killed by a motorbike bomb in in Kunduz province.

A further 18 people were injured in an attack that authorities believe was meant to target a local militia in Emam Sehab district.
