Taoiseach's mother Eithne Kenny laid to rest in Mayo

Mrs Kenny passed away last Saturday, aged 93.

THE MOTHER OF Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Eithne, has been laid to rest in Mayo following a funeral service this morning.

Mrs Kenny was celebrated at a requiem mass at the Church of the Holy Rosary in Castlebar before her burial took place this afternoon at Islandeady Cemetery.

The former home economics teacher, who was active in Mayo politics for over 60 years, died on Saturday. She was 93. She is survived by four sons – Enda, John, Hentry, Kieran and a daughter – Marie.

Former president Mary McAleese and her husband Martin were among those in attendance as was Northern Ireland deputy first minister Martin McGuinness, former taoisigh Bertie Ahern and John Burton, and members of the cabinet as well as opposition TDs.
