Taylor Swift is not happy with being mentioned in Kanye West's 'misogynistic' new song

The lyric? “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ I made that bitch famous’. EW.

KANYE WEST REVEALED his new album The Life of Pablo last night at a massive fashion show in New York, which was screened live in cinemas across the world.

The clothes were, as ever, slightly baffling, but one particular song stuck out. On the track Famous, West includes a lyric that appears to reference his beef with Taylor Swift:

I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ I made that bitch famous

West and Swift famously clashed at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when the rapper invaded the stage as Swift collected an award.

They have since patched things up, and TMZ reports that West called Swift to give her a heads up about the ‘joke’ lyric.

However, New York Times music writer Jon Caramanica shared a statement from Taylor Swift’s spokesperson about the song, saying Kanye had called, but not to ask for ‘approval’.

Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single Famous on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, “I made that bitch famous.”

Swift’s friends and family have responded angrily to the track – her brother Austin posted an Instagram video of him throwing his Yeezy trainers into the bin:

While model Gigi Hadid, who was at the event last night, tweeted that her attendance didn’t mean she condoned what West was rapping about:

This is why we can’t have nice things, Kanye.
