A 16-YEAR-OLD GIRL who attacked two young teenagers and forced them to get on their knees and grovel has avoided jail.
The attack, which took place on a street in Birmingham, was filmed and shared millions of times on Facebook.
It shows two girls, aged 14, being threatened, punched and screamed at. They are also made to take off their shoes and socks.
The girls are hit with their own handbags and one of the girls had her bag emptied and thrown on the road, her phone was also stolen.
The video shows other teenagers around chanting and laughing.
The girl responsible has received thousands of death threats after her mobile number was posted on social media. Graffiti has also been daubed on the girls house since the attack.
The Birmingham Mail reports that District Judge David Robinson accepted that she was immature and was struggling with issues.
Addressing the girl at Birmingham Youth Court, he said, “The two girls were only 14. They were surrounded by a group of others who were clearly with you.
“They must have been terrified. You struck both of them with their own hand bags, throwing their property aside.
Both of them, at least during part of the assault, were on the ground and vulnerable.You humiliated both of them, forcing both of them to apologise for a perceived slight they may have given you.Their humiliation was made complete as their ordeal has been spread across social media.
The teenager, who cannot be named, admitted charges of robbery and assault.
Judge Robinson sentenced the girl to a 10 month intensive referral order. He also ordered that £400 compensation should be paid to one victim and £100 to another.
The teenage girls defence said she had alcohol problems and had drunk a litre of vodka that evening.
