The victim suffered a broken shoulder in the assault, which occurred in Cork last year.

A TEENAGER DRANK more than 30 cans of cider before launching an unprovoked attack on a man in Cork.

The Irish Examiner reports today that the teen, Liam Peacock (19), now of Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co Tipperary, was sentenced to five months in detention.

Peacock pleaded guilty to an assault causing harm to Noel O’Mahony (57) at Crosses Green in Cork on 29 September 2010.

On that date, Peacock ran towards Mr O’Mahony as he was was walking in the area, grabbed him by the left arm and threw him to the ground, shouting “I’ll f***ing kill ya”.

Locals saw the attack and alerted the gardaí.

Peacock’s solicitor told the court that his client had “consumed in excess of 30 cans of cider” on the night and was “out of his mind”. He also said Peacock has no recollection of the incident.
